Set in the rural underworld of clandestine cockfighting in the Cambodian countryside, Sophea, a 12-year-old girl, must send her favourite rooster to the next tournament in order to provide for her family’s urgent needs. As she crosses into the world of adults via these confrontations of an unforgiving brutality, Sophea will find her place not only among the men in her family, but also within her village.
